Five Points is named after the intersection in which five North Carolina roads and major highways converge in Fuquay-Varina. This intersection dates back to the 1920’s. It later became known as a community of residents who claimed to live in ‘Five Points’. The area was known to have a number of single room log cabins, which may have been some of the first motel cabins, according to a local historian. The five points of the intersection led to Raleigh, Fuquay Springs, Angier, Willow Spring, and beyond a wooden overpass to the old Johnson Pond.
